Power comparison of ANOVA and Kruskal‒Wallis tests when error assumptions are violated

چکیده

The effects of the violations normality and homogeneity variances assumptions on power one-way ANOVA F-test is studied in this paper. Simulation experiments were conducted to compare parametric with non-parametric Kruskal‒Wallis (KW) test normal/non-normal, equal/unequal scenarios sample group means. Each these 184 simulation was replicated N = 1000 times obtained for both F KW tests. Shapiro‒Wilk's Bartlett's/Levene's tests each experiment. Results show that outperformed those F-tests 92 (85/92) non-normal cases. Although higher than 85 out under assumptions, differences, all cases study are not significant (p > 0.05) using t sign Based results, favours as a more robust safer use rather especially when distributional data sets doubt.

Multilevel bootstrap analysis with assumptions violated

Resumen Background: Likelihood-based methods can work poorly when the residuals are not normally distributed and the variances across clusters are heterogeneous. Method: The performance of two estimation methods, the non-parametric residual bootstrap (RB) and the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) for fi tting multilevel models are compared through simulation studies in terms of bias, coverag...

Easiness Assumptions and Hardness Tests: Trading Time for Zero Error

We propose a new approach towards derandomization in the uniform setting, where it is computationally hard to find possible mistakes in the simulation of a given probabilistic algorithm. The approach consists in combining both easiness and hardness complexity assumptions: if a derandomization method based on an easiness assumption fails, then we obtain a certain hardness test that can be used t...

When analyses are invalidated by erroneous assumptions.

In a recent publication in the “International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care” (7), Kildemoes and Kristiansen claim to address “Cost-effectiveness of interventions to reduce the thrombolytic delay for acute myocardial infarction.” Their study is based on a “Master of Public Health Assessment” thesis published by Kildemoes in the year 2001 (6). Three years ago, the author was inf...
